Perth post-metal/blackgaze band Illyria are back with a fresh new lineup and a powerful new single called 'Frostbite', which you can check out below!
The new track explores dynamics between delicate, shimmering passages of post-rock and huge blasts of euphoric metal, resulting in a wonderful listening experience that sees Illyria growing into new musical territory.
Guitar work from new members Stephen Barrett and André Avila is both beautifully melodic and impressively technical at the same time, which really pushes Illyria's atmospheric elements to new heights.
'Frostbite' has been produced, mixed and mastered by the band's bassist Daniel Hacking, while vocalist explains the song is about moving forward from a messy break-up as best as possible, saying "the track explores the idea of eliminating all emotion and connecting to stoic philosophy to find bliss through independence".
Have a watch/listen:
As it turns out, Perth are very close to seeing live shows return, and Illyria will be wasting no time to launch 'Frostbite' with a special show at the Amplifier Bar on August 21!
For a band that have shared the stage with bands like Alcest, Polaris, Make Them Suffer, Circles, Ne Obliviscaris, Plini and Caligula’s Horse, you know that this will not be one to miss for those able to go.
Illyria have released two albums to date, with a self-titled effort in 2016 and last year's The Carpathian Summit, which received high praise from critics and fans alike.
